Because im a clean freak xD i want to clean my inside of my laptop ( not inside inside , inside as in the parts you can get inside easy) .Will cleaning the laptop make the laptop last longer, run faster or anything like that? Or even not get as hot.
Yeah, computers are designed in such a way that the fan blows air over components that need to stay at a certain temperature. You can think of it sort of line a line of air swiring around inside your computer. If something blocks this stream of air, in this case dust, components can get so hot that they literally burn out. Those little dust blower things are great. I clean mine out every 3 months. It’s fun to get into all the little cracks and shoot big clumps of dust out.

I want to use the computer for school, movies, music, games, and lots of other things. I have heard about alienware and looked it up. They are really expensive, do you think their worth the price? Do you know about any other good brands that work really well and are worth the money?
Asus is pretty well regarded as making pretty top-notch computers, and they aren’t really all that expensive, really. Dell & HP are pretty nice for the price. Alienware is very nice, but way over-priced. Stay away from Acer with all of your might. There is a reason they are uber cheap.
Toshiba is pretty good, and Lenovo are alright…but not great.
When you are looking at these computers, are you looking at comparable equipment? Yes, Alienware laptops are more expensive than, say, an HP. But HP doesn’t offer a 19" laptop with SLI video cards, and an over-clocked quad-core processor. That’s like saying "Wow…That Porsche costs way more than that Honda Civic. Why would anyone buy the Porsche?" Um…because it’s much much faster?
Screen size is more important that you might think to the cost. A 15" laptop will cost less than a 12". That’s because for the same equip, the components will have to be smaller: which means more expensive. Once you get above 14" widescreen or 15", things get expensive again, because now they are charging you for a big screen.
That 14" widescreen, or 15" are the "butter zone" of price/portability.
Amount of ram is sorta important..you can always have someone upgrade it, but not only does it make your computer run better, but it also helps the battery last longer.
For a casual user, it really doesn’t matter if you get an AMD or an Intel processor. Or an ATI or Nvidea video cards. They run pretty much comparable for the average user. If there was really one that was so much better than the other, the worse one would stop being sold.
For gaming, stay away from "Shared video memory." You’ll want a dedicated video card. 4-cell battery at least, if you want more than 2 hrs of battery life. Lots of RAM. Don’t worry about a huge hard drive. You can always hook up an external USB2 hard drive that you keep at home, which are much cheaper than laptop hard drives, and if anything happens to your laptop, you have everything backed up, plus lots more, on the drive safe at home.
in the the next 5 years, kindly post your opinions about this preferably Apple notebook computers
3000 x 2400 resolution screens with full touch and scribe capabilities
8 core processing running in a 22nm architecture and consuming 10w of power
a ceiling of 128GB of DDR5 Ram
256GB solid state hard drives for OS operations running at 1000mb/s
100TB PMC hard drives for storage capability
2GB Video Cards with DDR8 ram and gods only know how many shader pipelines
and all this contained in something only about twice as thick as the airbook
If only talking about apples… i doubt they’ll exist anymore as Apple will move the entire format into the gen 8 Iphone and people will laugh at the days when they used to actually have to use computers
I ordered a Dell notebook for college and I got a student discount by them sending me a discount number to my student email and then using the code when purchasing the notebook. My notebook is now in the delivery stage and on the Dell site it shows it being delivered to my house address, but when I click on the tracking number that takes me to the site of the company doing the delivery it has my college as the delivery location. It should be delivered to my house right?
So it looks like it is being delivered to the college and somebody else will get it instead of you.
Easy come, easy go.
Most of us who are into technology in some way have already heard of the SD memory card. Where SD stands for Secured Data, these tiny cards are a very popular item now days with everyone who is dealing with PDA’s, electronic cameras, notebook computers and the like. So what makes these memory cards so popular and why should you even consider getting one? Well let’s look at the following facts:
1.The SD memory cards are what’s called a “bridge media” item. They enable you to pass data between different devices, without the use of a PC. For example, if you want to pass a 2 minute video you shot with your new digital camera, on to your iPAQ, you can do that in a few seconds by taking out the SD memory card from your camera and popping it into your iPAQ. Both the devices support the SD format, and the data is therefore transferred easily. It’s an sure way to pass data between different platforms because it’s a standard memory format the is supported by so many products and appliances.
2.The size of the SD memory cards is a mere 24mm by 32mm by 2.1mm. It’s slim size makes it an even easier “bridge media” because it’s so easy to carry around, and it fits into even the smallest appliances. There are also smaller standard of SD cards, such as the miniSD 20mm by 21.5mm by 1.4mm, or the microSD 15mm by 11mm by 1mm, but these also have smaller capacities.
3.It has the ability to play music, video and more without a drive mechanism like those in CD and DVD players. This allows for even more creative freedom for product designers.
4.The capacity of those small SD memory cards is growing, as cards with larger capacity hit the market all the time. For example, the 512 MB and the 1Gb cards are already old news, as the newer 2,4, and even 8 GB capacity cards are now beginning to be seen on the market. This allows for longer and higher quality video clips, for example. It’s important to add that many appliances don’t support these cards yet, and we should expect this to get better in the future.
5.Fast data transfer rate – these SD memory cards are a lot faster in terms of transferring data than that old CD. This is very reasonable, as there are no mechanical part s involved in the process of reading and writing data. This fact makes the SD memory cards a much faster memory device that the old ones we know. Most SD memory cards have the ability to transfer data at a rate that is 15 times faster than a standard CD-Rom.
There is no doubt that the SD memory cards are an important bridge in the world of digital appliances. They make it possible to pass huge amounts of data easily between different appliances without the need of and medium such as a PC. It’s a lot easier to see the pictures your friend took on your PDA without going through a PC, especially if you don’t have one around. These advantages make the SD memory cards an essential part of the digital lifestyle.

Casino online. How can computer programs help a player?
In real casinos the use of computers and different electronic facilities is forbidden (though some casinos allow to use, for example notebook PCs while playing the roulette). In on-line casinos the situation is quite different – the very game is played by using a computer, and it is very difficult to forbid the use the support programs here. A question arises whether a player is capable to get the advantage over casinos using computer programs.
Training programs: One of the most wide spread types of casino programs are training programs. A novice acquires an opportunity to practice the casino game, familiarize with rules, controls and possibilities of the game. Video-poker and BlackJack programs are devised to teach the basic strategy of the game. They give prompts if the player makes decisions different from optional decisions. If players wants they can find programs helping train the card counting. Therefore training programs will be of use both for on-line and off-line players.
Analyzing programs: The next type of programs are analyzing programs. Normally, such programs are developed for casino games with wide range of rules and basic strategy (for example for video-poker and Black Jack). The main aim of such programs is the calculation of mathematic expectation, dispersion and basic strategy of the game. Black Jack programs can provide coefficients for popular counting systems. Such programs infrequently have a training module or the represent a package together with a training program. Casinos analyzing programs also include analyzing programs of roulette strategies. In a sense, the program is that you set a supposed strategy of the game and the program generates several millions of spins and shows how much you lose- a useful thing for those who like “never lose” roulette strategies. As you can see analyzing programs are not less and probably even more useful for real casino players.
On-line Casino Game Helpers: The third type of programs which can be called “On-line Casino Game Helpers” is required only for Internet casinos. Within this type of statistics gathering programs were popular reading off data from the screen and providing these data to the player for analysis, however nowadays almost all on-line casinos provide statistics therefore there is no any necessity for such programs. Now programs still exist which provide recommendations in respect of game optimization. Simple programs have the basic strategy, more complex programs immediately recalculate an optimal strategy of Black Jack depending on the card out of the game, that is they automate the process of card counting. But in on-line casinos their use is limited, because the casinos usually shuffle cards after each deal.
On-line Casino “Bots”: Finally, the fourth type of programs, again on-line programs, which includes “Bots” (a contracted form of “robots”). Bots are designed to fully automate the process of playing, for that purpose they read off the information from the screen, make decisions in accordance with set program (usually based on the basic strategy) and emulate movements and pressing of the mouse button. On-line casinos are quite tolerant towards the programs of the first three types, however, the use of bots in all on-line casinos is forbidden. The problem is not that the program can outgame casinos- it might be possible only in casino games beneficial for the player which can be hardly found on-line. On-line casinos are rather afraid of bonus hunters because using a bot you can easily “wash for” bonuses flat bet day after day.
However, judging by unproved rumours the biggest gain of $1.2 mln in on-line casinos was acquired using a bot (the game on $10000 in Caribbean 21).
Programs of first three types are freely sold. On-line Casino “Bots” programmers usually write for their own purpose. There are people using their written robots for simple “washing for” bonuses following the basic strategy, although they do not intend to sell them- they are afraid of toughening measures on the part of casinos in case of frequent use of the bots.
As a matter of fact, one more type of programs exist which can be characterized in short as “DECEPTION OF BUYERS”. If you see a program promising “never lose” roulette game (exact calculation of a falling number and manual control of a falling number) or cracking the casino server with accruing lots of money for you, pass by. At least will get nothing for your money and at most you will get the Trojan horse or lose relying on empty promises.
On-line Poker Programs: On-line poker programs are worth particular consideration. They include the programs of the four above mentioned types. Trainers exist enabling you to try to take on artificial intelligence (AI) of the program. At the same time some programs will advise you on the game optimization (at the extend as it is understood by the creators of the program). Analyzing programs exist calculating your chance for improving up to different combinations and running various simulations, for example they can compare the force of two aces and two twos. On-line casino helpers usually work with statistics. If earlier programs tried to gather statistics from the screen, now they import standard logs of poker rooms. Based on these logs information is provided in respect of the player and opponents. Your statistics can be analyzed when you have spare time finding negative points and the statistics on your opponents can be displayed on the screen while playing to optimise game decision making. Moreover programs exist gathering and providing information on players you have never played with and which are not included into your statistics, however, poker rooms started on cracking down on these programs. Quite often you can see the warning on poker room web sites:
Q. Can you give me a list of acceptable programs?
Poker room. This is a list of programs that we are aware of and permit:
1. GameTime+
2. Holdem Inspector
3. PokerAce Heads Up
4. PokerOffice
5. PokerTracker
6. PokerWeapon
7. Texas Calculatem
Q. Can you give me a list of programs which are prohibited?
Poker room. This is a list of programs that we are aware of and prohibit:
1. PokerEdge
2. PokerProphecy
3. StarSpy
4. WinHoldem
5. PokerSherlock
Poker bots exist and you can buy them but without an interface which will press buttons instead of you, however, experts make them quite easily. A bot championship with the prize fund of $100000 took place simultaneously with a recently ended WSOP tournament.
Although poker room bots are not desirable clients, poker rooms trying to crack down on them as well, and while improving poker bots fight against them will be tougher. The fact is that bots make the game less interesting for most players, sway of bots will result in giving up playing poker in Internet.
In general casino programs enable to minimize losses (in off-line even to pass to a beneficial game) and poker programs if used properly may considerably improve the game quality and make you a good plus player.

What laptops allow you to replace the video card? Can i just buy the usual dekstop Nvidia or AMD cards, or do you buy specific graphics cards designed for laptops?
Thanks!
well there are probably very few, and unless you got a high end laptop, you prolly wouldnt be able to replace it, and if you did, it would be a special, expensive card

Years ago, Holmes & Rahe crafted the first formal measure of the
impact of stress on people. At the top of their list are events
like the death of your life partner, a divorce, serious illness
and the like, all the way down to something simple like getting
a parking ticket. The valid notion underpinning the stress
measurement scale is that each time we encounter change, we have
to adapt. When we’re in charge of the change it’s fine.
Theoretically (unless your partner’s nagging you to get it done)
to mow or not to mow your grass shouldn’t cause stress. Because
it’s a decision or action under your control. It’s the things
over which we don’t have control that cause stress. Today, more
than anything, it’s the speed of technological and sociological
change that is a significant stress driver for developed economy
inhabitants.
Some examples: There’s an emerging right-wing political movement
in Europe and Australia. Based largely on a racist,
anti-immigration platform. Recently, people who detest French
President Jacques Chirac had to vote for him in order to prevent
rabid right-winger Jean-Marie Le Pen from becoming French
President. An unthinkable prospect but it nearly happened!
On the medical front, bio-engineering permits astonishing
medical interventions. Cryo-therapy (liquid nitrogen) having
failed on sun damage lesions (courtesy of the then SADF) on my
face, I’ve just finished using a high-tech cream which attacks
only the sun damaged cells. Thermal scans of the brain can tell
us unequivocally if someone is lying. Vocal patterns measured on
commercially available software running via the modem on your
computer can do the same as you’re talking to someone. It’s
being used in fraud and corruption prevention around the world.
Ozone pumped over decaying tooth enamel renders bacteria inert
and reduces the need for drilling. An algorithm ‘reads’ your
dog’s bark and via a little liquid crystal screen on Rover’s
collar, can tell you whether he’s bored, hungry, wants to play
or is afraid. Mobile phones have irretrievably changed the lives
of millions of people. International media networks allow us to
track what’s going on around the world in a matter of minutes.
Personal digital assistants (PDA’s) and notebook computers
haven’t put more time in your life. All they do is let you do
even more in the little time available.
Recently conceptualized self-destructing DVD’s, hold promise as
the answer to music and movie pirating. Once you’ve viewed or
listened a maximum of twice, they’ll become unusable.
When the Americans finished bombing Afghanistan, entrepreneurs
in Kabul didn’t plant veggie gardens; they started building
satellite dishes so they could share in what’s going on around
the world. Hungry people maybe, but even more info-hungry.
People bring class-action lawsuits against fast food vendors and
cigarette manufacturers, airlines and reality TV show producers.
All in an attempt to avoid taking responsibility for their own
choices and their lives. It’s always easier to blame someone or
something else. Genes are increasingly being indicted for
everything from alcoholism to hyperactivity and over-eating. In
many instances if we adequately managed our senses, we’d save
ourselves the trouble of looking for external ‘causes.’
In fulfillment of futurist and author John Naisbitt’s
‘High-tech, high-touch’ predictions of years ago, we’re choosing
to die not in ICU’s, but in hospices or in our own homes.
Computer driven customer relationship management (CRM) programs
notwithstanding, good old fashioned customer contact is still
the best service differentiator in business. In fact, it’s so
rare that we consider it exceptional when we experience it.
Companies receive awards for transparency and corporate
governance instead of merely running to an ethical script by
default.
Disease travels around the globe and spreads in twenty four
hours by piggy-backing on aircraft passengers. Surveys show that
more and more people feel that they’re not living fulfilled
lives. A recent BBC survey of viewers and listeners indicated
that ninety two percent of British people felt they were in the
wrong (and unrewarding) job or career. A terrifying statistic.
These are just some of a myriad examples revealing how our world
and therefore our lives are being affected by technological
advance and the speed of change. It’s essential that we take
charge of the facets of change over which we do have control.
That we make decisions about which uncontrollable ones we allow
to influence our lives. That we choose to live using change and
technology to our advantage. That we don’t passively allow our
lives to be dictated to and driven by, technological change. Use
it. Don’t let it use you.
